Advocate Biography

Sung Dai Kim (Henry) is the Deputy Director of the Ministry of the Interior and Safety, Republic of Korea. He has been instrumental in raising awareness of cities and local governments in Korea on disaster risk reduction, the Making Cities Resilient Campaign, and the Sendai Framework. He also supports the implementation of the School Safety Programme Towards a Culture of Disaster Prevention in Korea.

As a Focal Point of the MCR Campaign in Korea, Sung Dai Kim is very conversant about the MCR Campaign tools including the Disaster Resilience Scorecard for Cities and the Quick Risk Estimation (QRE) tool. His goal is to help make all cities in Korea resilient.

Holding a Master's Degree in social welfare from Yonsei University, Sung Dai Kim served in the National Emergency Management Agency and the Public Safety and Security Ministry in the area of disaster risk mitigation, especially in the area of budgets and public relations for disaster risk mitigation.
