Advocate Biography

Roger Torres has over 15 years of extensive local, municipal, national and international experience in the field of risk management - prevention, mitigation, preparedness and response, humanitarian assistance and resilience. His academic background includes social sciences, law and disaster risk reduction. He works in El Salvador, Nicaragua, Guatemala, Panama, the United States and Korea.

He currently serves as Deputy Regional Commissioner and National Coordinator of COPECO volunteers, Honduras Central America, as well as Secretary General of the Federation of Latin America and the Caribbean Associations. He won the United Nations National Volunteer Prize in 2013 within Emergency Category. He has been promoting Making Cities Resilient Campaign as an advocate within 120 municipalities.
