Advocate Biography

Jaime Soto is an instructor for courses in Disaster Risk Reduction and Strategic Planning for Sustainable Local Development promoted by UN HABITAT and UNDRR. He specializes in the uses of geo-technology for land-use planning. He has participated in projects and consulting services related to land-use planning with a focus on disaster risk reduction in the Itata Valley. He was also involved in Environmental Planning of the Nonguén National Reserve, which is the last relic of deciduous forest of Concepción on our planet. He has experiences in directing the first aerial survey with fixed-wing Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs) for a Master Community Plan in Chile and in monitoring drones of the Copahue volcano crater on orange alert, among others.
