Henry is a Civil Engineering Bachelor from the Universidad del Valle (Cali - Colombia) and a Master in Education with emphasis on Popular Education and Community Development of the Institute of Education and Pedagogy - IEP of the same university. Henry holds 14 years of experience in Disaster Risk Management. He has experience as a specialist in Risk Reduction and Sustainable Local Development of the DELNET Program of the International Training Centre CIF of the International Labour Organization - ILO / UN. He has been a tutor of the Risk Reduction and Sustainable Local Development Course of the DELNET Program organized by the International Training Center - ITC / ILO / UN. Currently he is a Professor at the International Institute of Education of the Colombian Red Cross Valle del Cauca Section. As an engineer and education, he is working to contribute to the Campaign in Colombia from an educational and pedagogical perspective. He plans to promote the understanding of local risk management and sustainable development, as well as the implementation of the disaster risk management policy recently adopted in his country.
Campaign ActivitiesMr. Peralta Buritica has more than 14 years of research experience for OSSO within the area of vulnerability and risks as well as broad experience in evaluation of vulnerability and risks in Colombia. Mr Burica participated as UNDRR delegate in various conferences, courses, workshops in countries such as Peru, Nicaragua, Colombia, Italy and Switzerland. In 2007 Henry Buritica coordinated development of the Action Plan for strengthening an early warning system with the indigenous resort Hulia. Furthermore, in 2014, promoted the Campaign at the Global Urban Forum organized by UN-Habitat in Medelin as well as at the IV Platform for Disaster Risk Reduction in Guayaquil – Ecuador. In addition, in March 2015, participated as a panellist at the World Conference on Disaster Risk Reduction (WCDRR) in Sendai – Japan. since 2013, he advocates UNDRR Resilient Cities Campaign in Colombia.
