the new-look ISDR Highlights! Each month, ISDR Highlights will
contain short email message of 'newsflash' items that will allow
you to access up-to-date information and news related to the
ISDR.
The first issue
of a new web-based publication will be issued on a bi-annual
basis and will incorporate your inputs on a range of more detailed
information and news in disaster reduction around the world.
As always,
we welcome your comments and contributions. Share with us your
disaster reduction stories in a written piece of approximately
500 words (plus photos and graphics) that we can publish on-line
and share your experiences worldwide!

the tide on disasters towards sustainable development

A framework to guide and monitor disaster risk reduction on-line conference
25 August-26 September
Co-organised by the UN/ISDR and the UN Development Programme, this on-line
dialogue discusses a proposed framework to understand, guide and monitor disaster
risk reduction. This week's topic looks at thematic areas and components of

Disaster Reduction+Climate Change Infolink (DR+CC)
The main focus of the DR+CC infolink is the intersection
of disaster risk reduction and climate change adaptation, to promote
disaster risk reduction as an adaptation strategy, and to clarify
the role of climate change in disaster risk management. DR+CC infolink
will provide information on key issues, upcoming events, publications
and linkages with other like-minded organizations and individuals.
This first edition highlights the need to take steps to have disaster
risk better dealt with in the IPCC process. To subscribe, please

Euro-Mediterranean Conference on Disaster Reduction 6-8 October Madrid, Spain
The Government of Spain will host a Euro-Mediterranean Conference on Disaster
Reduction, coorganised by the Council of Europe (Major Hazards Agreement) and
the ISDR Secretariat. The event will contribute to the Yokohama Strategy in
the preparation of the Second World Conference on Disaster Reduction, to be
held in January 2005 in Kobe, Japan. To register and for further information

United Nations Documents Related to Disaster Reduction 2000-2002 UN/ISDR, 2003
This publication comprises a range of UN documents related to disaster reduction
including General Assembly resolutions and decisions, Economic and Social Council
resolutions, Reports of the Secretary-General, and other relevant documents
