Coherence amongst disaster risk reduction, sustainable development and climate change agendas was identified as an important priority at the previous Global, Platform for Disaster Risk Reduction, which took place in Cancun, Mexico in May 2017. The Chair's summary of this conference highlighted that by pursuing coherence and incorporating disaster risk and climate change considerations into sustainable development, member states can ensure that all public and private investments in development will be translated into investments in resilience. The integration of indicators to measure the implementation of the Sendai Framework and the SGDs was also identified as instrumental in achieving coherence. Attaining similar coherence and integration with the adaptation goals of the Paris Agreement would be important. The Ministerial Roundtable will provide an opportunity to share policies and development which are being implemented at the country level, building on discussions and recommendations made during the last Global Platform and developments that have taken place since then.
