The interactive 'game' is actually a decision-making tool that brings participants to consider how to manage disasters while they face a myriad of competing challenges including fiscal constrainst, development priorities and various financing options.

Through its interactive nature, the ARC game is a great platform for raising awareness and bringing in various actors into consideration as part of the decision making process. It will also aim to build a greater understanding of the Government policy makers limited options of acting on disasters. This activity is an opportune time to showcase the considerations associated with financing disasters.

The ARC game provides an innovative tool in disaster risk financing which is a specific domain. Disaster risk financing mechanisms have gained importance in the recent years, as a way to safeguard development gains of developing countries. The ARC currently covers 34 countries in Africa.
