This presentation will highlight the importance of taking an intersectional approach to vulnerability reduction and resilience building. It will describe an innovative gender-sensitive methodology which has been tried and tested to understand different intersecting inequalities in the context of natural hazards and climate change, that can be used and replicated by other agencies and organisations. The presentation will share findings from two case studies in two very different countries, in terms of hazard contexts, social systems and recent political histories.
