This presentation draws attention to the vulnerability of older women and their suffering in disasters. It also shows that older women are doing their best to reduce disaster risks in their own families, communities, and societies. Older women represent almost half of the world’s elderly population and are among the most affected by disasters and climate change. Their experience, knowledge and expertise are significant to climate change adaptation and disaster risk reduction strategies and processes.
