Today the majority of deaths from disasters occur in fragile and conflict affected contexts. This IGNITE session will explore the lessons, challenges and experience of implementing disaster risk reduction in fragile contexts. Concern Worldwide is an international humanitarian organisation dedicated to tackling hunger and eradicating poverty. Concern operates in 24 of the world’s poorest countries; the majority of which are fragile states. This session will explore some of the realities of implementing humanitarian and development programmes in fragile states from the NGO perspective.
