The new Urban Centres Database of the European Commission Joint Research Centre provides new open data for over 10 000 cities worldwide. Building on the Global Human Settlement Layer (GHSL), the new database provides more detailed information on the cities' location and size as well as characteristics such as the built-up areas exposed to natural hazards. This presentation will provide the audience with animated views of changing disaster risk over the years.
