This presentation provides an opportunity to highlight measures for addressing risks within communitarian cultures that have similar culturally framed responses to natural hazard events. Massey University bring together indigenous Māori knowledge, emergency management and disaster social science to explore new directions in disaster research, as well as innovation within New Zealand’s disaster management infrastructure.
