In India, great strides have been taken to protect animals from disasters. Animal protection components have been integrated into national disaster management policies, plans, trainings and search & rescue operations by the Government. This has helped millions of animals and has safeguarded the livelihoods of communities' dependant on livestock in the most disaster-prone states. In this presentation, World Animal Protection will highlight these successes and lessons learnt, and present their campaign ‘Don't Forget Them’, which aims to ensure that animal voices are represented in discussions around DRR globally, nationally and locally.
