Global warming has caused an escalated number of natural hazard events to occur on the ancient trade and cultural exchange route that is The Silk Road. In response, the Silk Road Disaster Risk Reduction (SiDDR) program has been established to deal with natural hazards and sustainable development in the countries along the Silk Road. The Institute of Mountain Hazards and Environment hope the program will enhance international cooperation on DRR and directly target prioritized actions of the Sendai Framework.
