Deafness is sometimes referred to as the “hidden disability”. Hence, precise, timely and relevant communication between people with disabilities and first responders as well as the general public is crucial. This session outlines the content and features of an online sign language course aimed at addressing the needs of persons with hearing disabilities in health emergency contexts. The development of this course echoes Priority 4 of the SFDRR - that universally accessible approaches should be promoted during response and reconstruction phases.
