94 Days to Go - Social Media, Speed Networking and Accommodation at the 2017 Global Platform

17 Feb 2017

Dear partners,

With three months to go until the 2017 Global Platform, the United Nations Office for Disaster Risk Reduction (UNISDR) has launched the "From Sendai to Cancun" social media campaign to raise awareness about the event. If you have a Twitter, Facebook or Tumblr account, you can show your support for the campaign on Thunderclap. Please encourage members of your networks to do likewise. The details are here on the Global Platform website: http://unisdr.org/go/gp2017/news-media. On the same page, you will also find information about how to get involved with the Global Platform blog, plus a range of social media and audiovisual products.

In addition, we ask that you use the #MEXICOGP2017 hashtag ahead of and during the Global Platform in order to highlight action to reduce disaster risk and implement the Sendai Framework.

We are also launching a call to join us in hosting "speed networking" events at the Global Platform. Organizers will be able to host theme- or language-specific events. For more information, please visit: http://unisdr.org/go/gp2017/networking.

Finally, we are pleased to announce that a limited number of rooms are available at the Moon Palace Resort (Sunrise or Nizuc zones), the venue of the Global Platform, at a negotiated, all-inclusive rate of US$250. Reservations will be on a first come, first served basis. However, in order for participants to benefit from this negotiated hotel rate, they must be registered to attend the Global Platform.
