Online Dialogue on “Implementing the Sendai Framework for DRR”

9 May 2016

In preparations for the 2017 Global Platform on Disaster Risk Reduction, to be hosted by the
Government of México on 22-26 May 2017 in Cancún, the UNISDR is initiating consultations with
stakeholders to identify issues that will be addressed at the 2017 Global Platform.

Stakeholders are being consulted through an on-line dialogue that will be running from 16 May to 5
June 2016. See Annex 1 below for a list of key issues proposed to guide the discussion and help
identify critical elements and aspects of the Sendai Framework that require urgent attention, action and guidance in order to meet its priorities and global targets.

Each issue will be discussed for a week each and will be facilitated by Mr. Jerry Velasquez, Chief,
Advocacy and Stakeholders Coordination Section at UNISDR. The discussion will take place English via email. The moderator will receive the messages and will pass them on for circulation to all registered participants as they fit the discussion.

The results of this dialogue will provide inputs into the discussions and outcomes of the 2017 Global
Platform for Disaster Risk Reduction.
