This one-meter resolution satellite image was collected by Space Imaging's IKONOS satellite on Aug. 21, 2002. The image shows extensive flooding in eastern Germany where the Mulde River joins the Elbe River just north of Dessau, Germany.

This ERS SAR image covers an area of the River Oder around the town of Frankfurt. The left part is a multitemporal image using the images of the 5th August and 21st July.

This ERS SAR multitemporal image covers a large section of the River Oder around the town of Frankfurt, from Krosno (bottom right) to its confluence with the Warta. The magenta areas along the river are those flooded on the 5th August, while those in green-cyan where flooded only on the 6th August; the blue tones show areas flooded on both dates.
Etna Overview, Italy, July 2001
This four-meter resolution satellite image of the top of Mount Etna, Sicily was collected by Space Imaging's IKONOS satellite on July 31, 2001. The image shows the prominent white smoke plume rising from the volcano. Etna has been spewing molten lava, ash and rock from fractures on its southern slope for the last two weeks, forcing a state of emergency in the surrounding area.

Duzce, Turkey, November 1999
This one-meter resolution black-and-white image of the outskirts of Duzce, Turkey was collected by the IKONOS satellite on November 14, 1999. A devastating earthquake struck northwestern Turkey on November 12. This image shows damaged and destroyed warehouses as well as debris - shown in white - around residential structures adjacent to the main road. Credit: "Space Imaging."
Samos, Greece 2000
On Thursday 6 July 2000, a fire started to burn large part of the Aegean Sea island of Samos. Many fires started on this week in Greece due to the high temperatures (up to 40° C), but Samos is the scene of the largest fire in the country.
