The introduction of a results-based management system has led to an improvement of the planning, implementation, reporting and monitoring of the work programme.
Regular monitoring and progress reports against the UNISDR Work Programme are submitted through the e-Tool. The compiled reports form the basis for UNISDR's Annual Reports. This information is used to prepare donor reports and the biennial Integrated Monitoring and Documentation Information System 2012-2013 Report against Sub Programme 3 of the UN Strategic Framework.
UNISDR's monitoring process is based on the regular reporting by the regional offices and headquarters units, on a monthly, six-monthly and annual basis. The information is collected against the activities, results, indicators and targets defined in the UNISR work programmes and the Strategic Framework. Three main reporting mechanisms followed by the UNISDR are as follows:
1. Monthly Executive Snapshots
Progress against the main activities from the Biennial Work Programme
2. Mid-Term (Six-Monthly) Monitoring Report
Status on the achievements against indicators from the UNISDR Strategic Framework
3. Annual Monitoring Report
Status on the achievements of results and indicators from the UNISDR Strategic Framework
UNISDR collects regular information from all the regional and section offices on a monthly basis, against activities defined in the Biennial Work Programme. These reports are used to inform senior management on the progress of each regional and HQ section office. Senior management further discusses the progress in their monthly meeting with regional and section offices and take decisions for the future course corrections.
On the biannual and annual basis, the regional and section offices regularly report against the indicators and targets through an e-Tool (online management tool) backed by the proper means of verification (MoVs). UNISDR-wide reports are then compiled based on the inputs from all the offices. Outcomes of these reports are then presented to Senior Leadership Group meetings on a regular basis, for approval and future course corrections. UNISDR also shares this information with its partners through the UNISDR Annual Reports.
