The event IDRR 2017: Environmental Crises in West Asia Region is going to be held on 10th Oct jointly by Research Group on Islam and International Relations from the Institute for International and Political Studies (IPIS) of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Iran and the Institute for Islamic World Futures Studies (IIWFS) which is an active NGO working on different aspects of the Islamic communities.
The meeting is going to discuss different aspects of climate change and environmental crises and their impacts on the west Asia region and in particular on the Islamic countries in this region.
The speakers will include Dr. Hadi Soleiman Pour, member of the Faculty on International Relations who will speak on the drought and water crisis in this region. The second speaker is Mr. Mohammad Zari Zare, Head of International Environmental Affairs in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Iran, he will speak about dust storm and its impact on the countries in the region.
The third speaker is Dr. Seyed Mohammad Sadati Nejad, Ex- UNISDR Special Coordinator based in Tehran during 2006-2009. He will discuss the relationship between disasters, climate change and conflict and the relationship between DRR and CRR and their impact on reducing crisis and tension in the region.
The fourth speaker will be Dr. Kaviani Rad, member of the Kharazmi University. He will speak about the water crisis between Turkey, Iraq, Syria and Iran and its impacts.
The meeting will also touch upon the ways and means to resolve or reduce the tension and crises based on Disasters and climate change in the region.
