The session explores three critical issues in disaster risk governance: using national frameworks to empower local governments to engage in DRM, promoting an ‘all-of-society’ approach and establishing methods for evaluating progress. Panellists will discuss the enabling role of national government in fostering decentralised and local-level action to manage risks. The session will examine appropriate scales, the commitment of different actors to DRM, and how to enhance capacity and coordination. Panellists will share lessons on developing targets and indicators for measuring progress at national and sub-national levels and techniques for evaluating disaster risk governance.
