Many countries have set up national disaster management entity, and a number of river basin organizations have been established. However, water related disasters including flood, drought, land slide, and coastal disasters have been inducing significant damages, and fragmentation and lack of holistic approach are still major challenges.
The side event will share suggestive cases in Water and Disaster Management, and discuss key trends and approaches in such areas as institutional framework, IWRM through hydrological cycle, urban resilience, nature-based infrastructure, economic analysis, innovative risk assessment and early warning, as well as community engagement for preparedness and emergency response.
