The presentation will highlight HDX and the benefits of having a robust set of baseline data about the context in which a humanitarian crisis may happen. The talk will focus on the lesson learned during the recent humanitarian crisis in Nepal and Haiti. The Humanitarian Data Exchange (HDX) is an open platform for sharing data, launched in July 2014. The goal of HDX is to make humanitarian data easy to find and use for analysis. Our growing collection of datasets has been accessed by users in over 200 countries and territories. Built over open source technologies, HDX stores more than 4,500 datasets of relevant humanitarian data from more than 900 sources. As of today, about 275 organisations are registered and many of them sharing data in the open platform. Lately, HDX has received very valuable datasets on preparedness from UNISDR, UNOSAT, HOT OSM, and other national and international organization.
