Role Models are authorities or local governments that have implemented innovative, creative, inclusive and efficient measures to realize strong political will in the field of Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR) at local level. They must demonstrate achievements in at least five areas out of the 10 Essentials in the “Ten-point checklist of Essentials for Making Cities Resilient”. The nominated cities or local governments should show innovation, sustained results in measuring and reducing disaster risk, their aims to continue to do so as well as must be interested to showcase and share experiences. They will inspire, create learning opportunities and provide support to other cities to boost their efforts towards committed resilient cities and communities.HOW TO BECOME A ROLE MODEL?
Cities, municipalities or local governments that are participating in the Campaign and have reviewed progress in risk reduction using the Local Government Self-Assessment Tool (LG-SAT) or implemented the City Resilience Scorecard can get nominated for good practices in DRR by other entities. Following nomination, local governments will submit a request for becoming a Role Model of the Campaign. UNISDR will provide formal recognition for Role Models in their area(s) of strength.
