Abdou Sane is currently they Mayor of Ziguinchor in the south of Sengnal. He is also the President of the Environment Commission, focusing on spatial planning, urban planning and housing. He was a member of the Parliament for 5 years from 2007 to 2012.
For many years, he has been a geography environmentalist working on urban environmental issues. His recently published work on Disaster Risk Governance in Senegal analyzed legislation in Disaster Risk Reduction and was a part of a project of UNDP and the International Federation of the Red Cross (IFRC).
He is passionate about strengthening risk governance and advocacy for greater DRR investment. This, according to him, is an important step on the roadmap for resilient cities at local level. He has advocated for the implementation of a new code of urban planning and disaster response in Haiti, as well as actively got involved in flood management with the government.Campaign Activities Back
