San Salvador – A workshop on urban risk reduction is taking place as part of the UNISDR 2010-2011 World Disaster Reduction Campaign: "Making Cities Resilient: My City is Getting Ready”. The workshop is being held from 23 and 24 November.

More than 35 municipalities, represented by mayors, high-level government authorities, and international guests are attending the workshop. The focus of the urban risk reduction workshop is on the Campaign objectives and its ten-point checklist of making cities resilient. Participants will learn how to reduce risks in their municipalities and to implement sustainable urban development. The workshop will also be a forum for local governments to exchange their experiences on urban risk reduction.
