The
platform became a reality through the support of the Government of
Germany. Following an offer
made at EWC-II to support a platform in
Bonn in line with the conference’s recommendations, the Humanitarian
Aid Task Force of the Federal Foreign Office (Arbeitsstab Humanitäre
Hilfe, Auswärtiges Amt, Berlin) made funds available to enable the
ISDR Secretariat to establish office facilities in early 2004 and to
commence the work program in mid-2004. The Government of Germany has
kindly indicated its expectation to support the Platform project for
four years.
Other support
Participants and partners in PPEW activities make valuable contributions
of time and other resources. The interactions with, and support of, the
many UN agencies and technical groups based in Bonn, are of considerable
value. The UN campus in Bonn is primarily concerned with issues related
to sustainable development.
Sponsorship opportunities
The Platform seeks to develop collaboration and to expand its program
of work to advance early warning and preparedness. There are opportunities
for potential sponsors to support high value projects and for collaborators
to gain from association with the United Nations and its extensive networks
