Duties and Responsibilities
Within limits of delegated authority, the consultant will be responsible for the adaptation and redesign of training materials for the 3 training modules of the Global Education and Training Institute (GETI) of UNISDR. This process will be done in close collaboration with UNISDR regional office for the Americas and the GETI office.
GETI has designed three training modules:
- Implementation of the Sendai Framework for Disaster Risk Reduction at local level.
- Implementation of the Sendai Framework for Disaster Risk Reduction at National level.
- Implementation of the Sendai Framework for Disaster Risk Reduction with the Private sector.
The session plans are already available with the complete presentations and exercises.
The responsibilities of the consultant include:
- Revise the sessions plans and the overall training agenda.
- Include more cases and examples for the Americas region.
- Redesign the presentations to make them more graphic and didactic (include pictures, graphics, videos, info graphics, etc).
- Revise and adapt the exercises if needed.
- Prepare supporting documents such as handouts of the case studies.
- The materials will be delivered in Spanish and in English.
Qualifications/special skills
Academic Qualifications: A university degree in Adult Education, instructional design, product design, communication and/or subjects related to Disaster Risk Management.
Experience: Wide experience in design of training materials, in Disaster risk reduction and in working the Americas region. Familiar with the Sendai Framework for Disaster Risk Reduction and with UNISDR tools (Making Resilient City Campaign, ARISE, Sendai Monitoring).
Experience in translation English -Spanish.
Communication skills and production skills.
Excellent writing and analytical skills are also advantageous.
Language: Fluency in Spanish and English (both oral and written) is required; working knowledge of another official UN language or national languages is an asset.
