United Nations documents related to disaster reduction, volume 1, 1987-2000

This document is a compilation of the principal resolutions adopted on disaster reduction in order to provide policy makers and other interested persons with ready access to such resolutions.

Resolutions adopted during the UN International Decade for Natural Disaster Reduction (IDNDR) are included, as they played an important role in laying the foundation for the formulation of the ISDR, as well as the resolutions adopted on El Niño phenomenon and early warning since they embody important principles relating to disaster reduction. It also includes some resolutions/documents which, although not dealing principally with disaster reduction, nevertheless have indirect implications for the subject.
