This report presents France’s disaster risks and natural hazards, such as flood, cyclone, avalanche, earthquake, landslide, volcano and wild fire, and discusses institutional and legal framework for disaster risk reduction (DRR). It provides an evaluation of country’s DRR national policy and describes progress made in forecasting and early warning systems, public awareness, education and capacity development.
The report describes disaster risk management programmes carried out in the Caribbean and Mediterranean regions, and provides recommendations for DRR activities after the closure of the International Decade for Natural Disaster Reduction (IDNDR).
