This monthly newsletter highlights UNISDR activities around the world. This issue reports on: (i) the progresses on the "Making Cities Resilient" Campaign and the release of the Handbook for local government leaders: how to make cities more resilient; (ii) using GIS for disaster risk reduction (DRR); (iii) a new Massachusetts Institute of Technology and ICLEI's survey on cities adaptation to climate change; (iv) a new World Bank guide on urban flooding management; (v) the costly impact of climate change; (vi) UNISDR's chief Margareta Wahlström's visit to the Philippines; (vii) the development of national disaster recovery plans for Honduras and El Salvador; and (viii) a new European adaptation project backed by UNISDR.
