2009 UNISDR terminology on disaster risk reduction (Chinese, Japanese and Korean)

The '2009 UNISDR Terminology on Disaster Risk Reduction' in Chinese, Japanese and Korean is a joint product of the Cabinet Office of Japan (CAO) and the National Emergency Management Agency of Korea (NEMA), who respectively developed the Japanese and Korean versions of the Terminology in cooperation with the UNISDR. It was officially launched at the occasion of the first trilateral meeting on disaster management by China, Japan and the Republic of Korea in October 2009 in Kobe, Japan.

The Terminology is aimed at promoting common understanding and common usage of risk reduction concepts and to assist the disaster risk reduction efforts of authorities, practitioners and the public. The original English version, and its translations into the other five United Nations languages (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian and Spanish), were developed by the UNISDR. This joint publication in the three East Asian languages is the first collaborative effort by partners to translate the Terminology into non-UN languages.
