The 13th Association of Pacific Rim Universities (APRU) Multi-Hazards Symposium 2017 will be held at Peking University on August 28-29, 2017. This conference will focus on how governance and state-of-the-art science and technology can more effectively address disaster risk reduction.
The 2017 symposium is focusing on how close association and collaboration between academia and governance on a local, national and regional level can address education, public outreach, infrastructure construction, disaster management, emergency rescue and hazard recovery in the field of disaster risk reduction.
The principal themes include but are not limited to:
- Innovative Science for Disaster Risk Reduction;
- State-of-the-art Technology for Disaster Risk Reduction;
- Creative Governance for Disaster Risk Reduction;
- Association between Academia and Policy Makers for Disaster Risk Reduction.
Call for abstracts
Experts, researchers, engineers and government delegates are cordially invited to submit papers on a range of topics consistent with the thematic pillars of the symposium. Please submit abstracts by April 27, 2017. Submissions should not be longer than 250-300 words. All of the oral- or poster-presented papers will be compiled into the Proceeding of this Symposium.
Student paper competition
All student participants are encouraged to enter the 2017 Student Paper Competition. Six finalists will be selected by a committee to earn an award and an opportunity to present their papers at the symposium. All of the oral- or poster-presented papers will be compiled into the Proceeding of this Symposium.
The requirement on word count is 2500–3500 words. Full paper submission for student paper competition will close on April 27, 2017.
