The training has been conceived for development practitioners involved in design, implementation, management, monitoring and backstopping of projects and programs with a focus on food and nutrition security. The training shall capacitate staff of development organizations to make good use of the opportunities offered by the national policy makers and the international (donor) community since food and nutrition security is back on the priority agenda.

Objectives:

The main focus of the trainings is to provide a holistic understanding of the complex nature of food and nutrition security, causes of food and nutrition insecurity, regarding also at different actors, the variety of interventions to tackle both acute and chronic food insecurity in rural and urban areas. Participants get insights into various disciplines and framework conditions for food and nutrition security at global, country and community levels. They will get an improved understanding of the methods, concepts and approaches for analyzing and combating hunger and malnutrition. The training (http://www.kkstiftung.de/13-1-Home.html) emphasizes concept development and assessment of approaches and instruments for the preparation, planning, implementation, management, monitoring and evaluation of food and nutrition security projects and programs based on a thorough assessment of the food and nutrition security situation. It covers the following topics:

•Food and Nutrition Security in a globalized world: Concept and definition of Food and Nutrition Security (FNS) incl. Millennium Development Goals/Sustainable Development Goals and post-2015 development agenda, and the Right to Food; global and national initiatives to address food and nutrition insecurity
•Causes, dimension and indicators of food and nutrition insecurity, incl. cross-cutting issues like climate change, HIV / Aids, conflict, disaster prevention and preparedness, gender, resilience
•Assessment and analysis of the FNS situation and stakeholders at micro, meso and macro level
•Actions/interventions to improve Food and Nutrition Security at micro, meso and macro level
•Developing appropriate and targeted strategies for Food and Nutrition Security for vulnerable groups
•Monitoring and evaluation of Food and Nutrition Security project and programs; output, outcome and impact indicators for FNS projects and programs.
•A field visit to a relevant project is part of the program.

How to register

Organisational details:
We have approached a German Ministry for subsidising the workshop – in case we succeed, we’ll pass it on to you. The present costs per person without subsidy for the ten-days’ workshop are 144.000 Rs / 1.800 Euro including food, accommodation, transport from station / airport Coimbatore to KKID and training materials. Taxes as applicable will be extra and shall be borne by the participant.
