Under the Macedonian Chairmanship-in-Office, the 2013 SEECP Summit will focus on two pressing and closely related issues of global importance: Disaster risk reduction and climate change adaptation, as complementary concepts that are part of the same equation.
The summit occurs during a significant anniversary: 50 years of the disastrous Skopje Earthquake of 1963, mobilizing the nations of the world for the reconstruction of the devastated city. As a result, Skopje became known as the city of solidarity.
The Fourth Session of the Global Platform for Disaster Risk Reduction will take place in Geneva, Switzerland in May 2013.
