UNFCCC second meeting of the Adaptation Committee

The second meeting of the Adaptation Committee will take place after the approval of its three-year workplan by the 18th session of the Conference of the Parties (COP 18) in late 2012.

The Adaptation Committee was established as part of the Cancun Adaptation Framework to promote the implementation of enhanced action on adaptation in a coherent manner under the Convention. The Committee's functions include: providing technical support and guidance to the parties; promoting synergy and engagement with national, regional and international organizations, centres and network; and providing information and recommendations for consideration by the COP.

Target audience

The COP, by decision 2/CP.17, decided that the meetings of the Adaptation Committee shall be open to attendance by admitted observer organizations, except where otherwise decided by the Adaptation Committee, with a view to encouraging a balanced representation of observers from Annex I Parties and from non-Annex I Parties.
