In this conference Ms Margareta Wahlström, the United Nations Special Representative of the Secretary-General for Disaster Risk Reduction, will help participants explore ways for businesses to build resilience to disasters. This will be a joint session between the United Nations Office for Disaster Risk Reduction (UNISDR) and Crossroads Foundation. During the session, the two organisations will launch a joint paper for corporations entitled “Is your business disaster proof?”

Program outline

Part One
The main activity will offer participants the ‘Struggle for Survival’ simulation followed by discussion on disaster risk management.

Part Two
The second session will report on progress so far on the development of the Disaster Risk Management Framework: a guideline being developed by UNISDR and PricewaterhouseCoopers to support the resilience of business against disasters.
