Background
Annual meetings are statutory occasions for Governors of ADB members to provide guidance on ADB administrative, financial, and operational directions. The meetings provide opportunities for member governments to interact with ADB staff, nongovernment organizations (NGOs), media, and representatives of observer countries, international organizations, academe and the private sector.
Tentative Schedule:
Opening Session: Saturday, 4 May 2013
Business Sessions: Saturday, 4 May 2013 and Sunday, 5 May 2013
Seminars: Thursday, 2 May 2013 to Sunday, 5 May 2013
The theme of the 2013 Annual Meeting is development through empowerment. Seminars will discuss ideas for financing Asia’s cities; innovations in generating “good” jobs; disaster risk reduction; promoting public services; emphasizing the role of science, technology and innovation in Asia’s growth; financing infrastructure; and building greater south-south cooperation. About 4,000 participants including finance ministers, central bank governors, senior government officials, and representatives from the private sector, academe, media, and civil society are expected to attend.
The Fourth Session of the Global Platform for Disaster Risk Reduction will take place in Geneva, Switzerland in May 2013.
