Driven by the theme Women and Girls: the [in]Visible Force of Resilience, International Day for Disaster Reduction (IDDR) 2012 draws attention to what women and girls are doing to reduce disasters risks in their homes, communities, and societies.
To celebrate the day, The Community Development and Environment Conservation Forum, Sindhupalchok is organising a inter-schools speech competition on the theme 'The role of students in Disaster Risk Management'. A competition among best students from ten different higher/ secondary school.
The event is scheduled for disseminating DRM concept through school based activities. Ultimately, school will be the first place to understand DRM after home. It will portrait the understanding of students and will motivate them to take initiative of raising awareness in local level.
Best students of each school in Sindhukhola Watershed, Sindhupalchok, Nepal will be eligible for competition
CBDRMP, Sindhupalchok will welcome all to watch the event.
The Fourth Session of the Global Platform for Disaster Risk Reduction will take place in Geneva, Switzerland in May 2013.
