Our 2012 theme is: 'Community resilience: Prepare, respond, rebuild'. It features keynote presentations on building community capacity and resilience as well as lessons and challenges from major disasters ranging from the recent Japan earthquake and tsunami to the Slave Lake, Alberta, wildfire. Other sessions share knowledge on incorporating Social Media in disaster management, tsunami detection and alerting for Canada, disaster and emergency risk assessments for natural, intentional, accidental, technological and CBRNE risks, and challenges and opportunities in aboriginal communities.
