International day for disaster reduction in Kenya

The Kenya national platform for disaster risk reduction, key partners including the Ministry of State for special programmes, UNISDR Regional Office for Africa, UNDP Kenya among others, will be observing the IDDR 12, under the theme 'Women and Girls - the [in]Visible Force of Resilience'.

The event will aims to highlight one of the strategic areas of intervention in the extended programme of action is to increase public awareness of DRR by increasing gender sensitivity of DRR policies, legislation and programmes. This event will use this day to build public awareness in Kenya with the support of information materials which aim to increase knowledge on gender-sensitive disaster risk reduction at national and local government levels.
