International cooperation towards the creation of a society safe and secure against disaster
As a 10-year anniversary of the Disaster Reduction and Human Renovation Institution (DRI), from 'Hyogo' which led disaster assistance in the 2011 great east Japan earthquake, this forum proposes the importance of creation of a society that is safe and secure against a multi-location/complex-hazard such as the 2011 great east Japan earthquake.
One fundamental pillar of the 'Hyogo Framework for Action' (HFA) which was adopted as the outcome of the 2005 world conference on disaster reduction held in Kobe, Hyogo is international cooperation to reduce disaster risk. Within this context, this high level forum offers an opportunity to have an in-depth discussion about international cooperation systems for multi-location/complex hazard disaster. This forum will be combined with the celebration of the 2012 UN international day for disaster reduction, with the theme of 'Women and Girls - the [in]Visible Force of Resilience'.
