  • A series of four webinars on building disaster resilient cities has been hosted in June 2012 by the International Council for Research and Innovation in Building (CIB) and the UN office for disaster risk reduction (UNISDR) on the topic of Building Disaster Resilient Cities.

The webinars were held in English or in Spanish on the 29th May to the 1st June 2012. Each webinar had a panel of presentations by researchers and city representatives plus a discussion session in which listeners were able to write in with questions and interact with the presenters.

The output from the webinars will help inform future research in building, construction and disaster resilience, which will be presented at a special session on Disaster Resilience and the Built Environment (hosted by TG63) at the CIB World Building Congress in Brisbane in May 2013. The webinars will also inform the first annual report of the UNISDR Making Cities Resilient Campaign to be prepared in 2012.
