ISDR Informs Asia & Pacific

Call for contributions

“Disaster Reduction in Asia & Pacific - ISDR Informs” is a collaborative effort of the ISDR Asian Partnership on Disaster Reduction (IAP), namely the Asian Disaster Preparedness Center (ADPC), Asian Disaster Reduction Center (ADRC), UN Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (UNESCAP), UN Development Programme (UNDP), UN Office for the Coordination for Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA), and the UN International Strategy for Disaster Reduction (UN/ISDR).

“Disaster Reduction in Asia & Pacific - ISDR Informs“ is a bi-annual publication that will be issued in June and December of each year. It shall review the activities, initiatives/projects and events that took place in Asia and the Pacific, including the different publications that were produced, and shall announce the forthcoming major events. Specific themes might be chosen for special occasions and all regional and national partners will be contacted through a call for contributions to provide relevant regional and national information on disaster risk reduction, including through their respective networks of partners, that they would like to see highlighted at the regional and global level through this publication. All regional and national partners are warmly invited to contribute through description of their projects and initiatives, articles on selected themes and announcements of relevant events in the field of disaster risk reduction / management.

Submissions

Good practices and lessons learned on disaster risk reduction (DRR) along the lines of the Hyogo Framework for Action (HFA) are particularly welcome to identify DRR successful initiatives that can be adapted and replicated in other countries. Articles or opinion pieces about projects, activities, programs, educational initiatives, scientific and technical papers are also strongly encouraged , as is news about upcoming workshops, seminars, meetings, publications, videos, CD-ROMs and other material related to disasters.

Submissions may include photographs, graphs, charts, and other illustrations. However, they should not exceed 1,500 words. Brevity is appreciated in order to display the broadest possible spectrum of ideas and case histories. When using acronyms of national and even regional bodies please quote the name of the agency or institution in full the first time you mention it. It is also essential for you to include at the end of your text, the following information:

  • The name of a contact to which further enquires may be directed,
  • The institution represented, and
  • Telephone and fax numbers, postal address, and e-mail address.
