Kobe City (Hyogo Prefecture) at center of growing international focus on disaster risk reduction

国連国際防災戦略事務局(UNISDR)は、防災に関する広範な経験と専門知識を持つ日本政府および日本の防災関連機関とより密に協力していくため、兵庫県神戸市に国連国際防災戦略兵庫事務所(UNISDR Hyogo Office)を開設することになりました。

兵庫県は、防災に関する研究、教育、国際協力を積極的に進めてきた地域であり、また6,400名以上の犠牲者を出した1995年の阪神・淡路大震災からの復興を遂げた土地です。UNISDRが兵庫県を新事務所の開設地に選んだのは当然のことと言えます。

The International Strategy for Disaster Reduction secretariat is opening a new office, the “UNISDR Hyogo Office” in Kobe, Hyogo, Japan, to work more closely with Japanese institutions that have extensive experience and expertise in disaster risk reduction. Hyogo is a natural choice as a new location for an UNISDR secretariat office, as it is a region at the forefront of research, education and international cooperation on disaster risk reduction.
