International Day for Disaster Reduction celebrated in the Arab region

Algeria, Comoros, Egypt, Jordan, Lebanon, Syria and Tunisia celebrated the International Day for Disaster Reduction 13 October, under the theme My City is Getting Ready!

Health and safety during disasters was the focus of the events in Algeria and Tunis, while Syria and Lebanon focused on safe schools.

As an integral part of the celebration, The Making Cities Resilient campaign was launched nationally in Comoros, Egypt, Lebanon and Syria, with the following cities signing up to the campaign: Aleppo, Alexandria, Aqaba, Baalbeck, Beirut, Byblos, Cairo, Homs, Ismailia, Moroni, Saida, Sharm El-Sheikh, Tripoli, Tyre.
