Side Event on South Eastern Europe and Disaster Risk Reduction, 17 June 2009, Global Platform, Geneva (Switzerland)

The World Bank Group (WB), the United Nations International Strategy for Disaster Reduction (UNISDR) and the World Meteorological Organization (WMO) organised a special event on South Eastern Europe (SEE) and Disaster Risk Reduction.
This event highlighted the ongoing progress to reduce vulnerability in SEE, the added value of a coordinated and cooperative approach, the win-win situation in strengthening existing regional organisations and the relevance of a regional approach to avoid overlapping and to utilize funds on disaster risk reduction at its best.
A wide range of participants attended and high-level panelists gave their speech.
