Visas / Immigration

EWC-III participants are responsible for ensuring that their passports are valid for at least 3 months beyond the date of the conference, and that visa requirements are met. Please submit your visa request by 10 February 2006 at your local German consulate/embassy.

Customs

The following goods may be imported into the Federal Republic of Germany without incurring customs duty by visitors arriving from countries outside the EU:
200 cigarettes or 100 cigarillos or 50 cigars or 250g of tobacco; 1l of spirits with an alcohol content exceeding 22 per cent by volume or 2l of spirits or liqueurs with an alcohol content not exceeding 22 per cent by volume or 2l of sparkling or liqueur wine; 2l of any other wine; 50g of perfume or 250ml of eau de toilette; 500g of coffee or 200g of coffee extracts; personal goods to the value of €175.00

For all questions and services please contact the on-site Information Desk in the main lobby in front of the main plenary hall. Tourist information, city maps, hotel reservation services, telephone cards, etc. are provided.

Medical Services

In cases of emergency outside the conference center please call the ambulance on 112 (free call).
A private medical insurance is strongly recommended, as all expenses for medical care will be the responsibility of the patient. 
The German pharmacy (Apotheke) symbol is shown left. All pharmacies give alternative addresses of services available outside the normal opening hours (10:00 – 18:00 local time on weekdays).
Medical services  will be available on-site on an emergency basis only. Please contact the Information Desk in case of emergency. 

Cloak Room Luggage Room

Luggage and coats can be left on-site at the cloak and baggage room at the entrance.

Meals

A variety of meals, including vegetarian dishes, will be on offer in the on-site restaurant at the participants´ own cost. Public restaurants are located in the city center.

Telephone

For non-mobile phone users, public payphones are located in the main lobby. Telephone cards will be available on-site at the Information Desk. For calls from abroad: The country code of Germany is +49.

Internet-Cafe

Free access to the internet is provided on-site in the lobby at the back of the main plenary hall. Commercial internet-cafes can be found in the city center.


Meeting Point

You can find the meeting point on-site at the Information Desk. A messageboard is provided.

Bank Service

The currency of Germany is Euro (€).
Cash machines are located in the city center and at the airports. Credit cards are widely accepted by department stores, taxis, and restaurants. Currency exchange facilities are available at Cologne-Bonn Airport, Terminal 1, Departure level, opposite to Germanwings (Reisebank, open daily from 07:00 – 20:00) and at Bonn Central Station opposite to Ticket Sales (Reisebank, open Monday to Friday 09:00 – 19:00, Saturday 09:00 – 15:00).

Disabled Access

There is full access for wheel chairs within the conference center.

Recreation Area

A recreational area / a multi-faith prayer room in the basement of the conference center will be open to all participants. No smoking, eating and mobile phones permitted.
