Working Group 4 : Wildland Fire

Since 2004: ISDR Global Wildland Fire Network and Wildland Fire Advisory Group
Chair: Global Fire Monitoring Center (GFMC), Freiburg, Germany

www.fire.uni-freiburg.de

Between 2001 and 2003 the Working Group on Wildland Fire (WG-4) supported the mandate of the ISDR Inter-Agency Task Force for Disaster Reduction (IATF) by establishing an interagency and inter-sectoral forum on Wildland Fire of UN and non-UN agencies and programmes to facilitate the creation of mechanisms of information and task sharing to prevent and reduce the negative impacts of vegetation fires on the environment and humanity.

Following the final report and recommendations of WG-4 and the decisions of the 8th meeting of the Inter-Agency Task Force for Disaster Reduction the work of WG-4 phased out at the end of 2003 and developed into the ISDR Global Wildland Fire Network. The advisory function has been taken over by the ISDR Wildland Fire Advisory Group. Regularly updated information is provided through links given below.
