Rules and guidelines for participants
Participants are reminded to focus their answers on the proposed list of questions. Short, concise and focused remarks will allow a lively and constructive dialogue and advance the subject under discussion.

Participants are invited to make constructive contributions to the forum and to share their views and ideas, provide concrete examples taken from their field of work and expertise. As much as possible, they are encouraged to provide bibliographic and other references to back up their remarks. They are also encouraged to describe their activities, projects, as well as those known to them in support of the points made to improve the framework and identify benchmarks for disaster risk reduction. The forum can also become a place to exchange future plans and projects.

Participants may request removal of a message they have posted or prevent their archival

Participation guiding principles

In participating in the discussion, please keep the following in mind:

  • Be brief and try to limit the line lengths (avoid the use of ENTER and other control functions).
  • Use descriptive subject lines.
  • Only post a message once.
  • Make sure that it is clear what you are responding to- make the reference necessary.
  • Don’t assume that a person is speaking for their organization.
  • Be careful about what you say about others and be careful with humour and sarcasm.
  • Think about your audience.
  • Cite appropriate references
  • Remember this is a discussion forum, not an advertising medium.
  • Make sure you do not send any files that contain viruses, corrupted files, or any other similar software or programs that may damage the operation of another's computer.
